The Ark and the Dove (The Story of Noah’s Wife)

BOOK BY: Jill Eileen Smith

This was an interesting look at the life of Noah, his wife, their sons and daughters-in-law.

The story opens with a glimpse into the sheer wickedness of the world one hundred years prior to destruction. Zara and Noah are desperate to find brides who believe in the Creator for their sons before the prophecy comes to pass. Readers can sense the urgency and share the fears of Zara through vivid descriptions of setting and characters. Mention of the Watchers (demons) and the Nephilim bring a sense of foreboding for them.

Readers are taken through the construction, preparations, and journey through the flood up until Noah plants his vineyard and curses Canaan. We don’t know much about the preparation years or the time in the ark and this story attempts to create a believable scenario for readers.

Author Jill Eileen Smith paints a brilliant picture of the lives of these six survivors. There’s enough conflict and tension between them to make readers wonder how they’ll survive on the ark together. Or how they’ll manage to start over once the waters have receded.
