Wait for Me (Waters of Time 4): Book Review

BOOK BY: Jody Hedlund

The fourth book in this series finds Dawson Huxham grieving his sister’s death (from book three). He struggles to move on from the grief, but when he briefly crosses time, he discovers she’s alive in the Middle Ages. What happens next, takes the reader (and Dawson) on a journey through time where miraculous healing is found.

The concept of holy water, comas, and miraculous healing is a unique take on time travel stories. It’s a simple explanation for how characters cross back and forth between modern times and the year 1382. Each time-crossing character is faced with the reality that one of their lives will end, and that once ended, they can never cross time again. This proves an interesting conflict in each story so far.

But what’s refreshing about this particular novel, is that it doesn’t follow the norm of the previous books (and if I said what it was, it would spoil the ending…).

Readers continue to see characters from previous books, who come to the aid of the newest time-crosser.

This is a fast romance – in that Dawson and his lady love, Philippa, have only five days together before they marry. What is supposed to be a marriage of convenience turns into a true love match, with plenty of heart-thumping kissing scenes.

The villains of contemporary time played a larger role in previous novels, and have little to do with Dawson’s story, though there is a cognizance of this organization throughout Dawson’s story. The demise of the group is tied up quickly, so it makes me wonder if there are loose ends that will be exposed in another novel (if indeed, there is another one!).

As always, Jody Hedlund provides readers with vivid descriptions and an emotional romantic story that draws us in until the last page.

I received a complimentary copy from the author, as part of her launch team. All opinions expressed are my own, and I didn’t need to provide a positive review.
