Blind Trust (Snap Agency 3): Book Review

BOOK BY: Natalie Walters

Blind Trust is the final book of the Snap Agency series by Natalie Walters. It can be read as a standalone novel without the reader having trouble following along.

Natalie Walters is a new-to-me author and I found that the story was more about the characters than the crime. There are some action sense with a little bit of suspense, but lots of breathing room between scenes to watch the romance between Lyla and Nicholas unfold.

Lyla is a stubborn character who doesn’t seem to think before she runs into the action. This causes a lot of tension between her and her team leader, Nicholas. Nicholas is becoming distracted by his growing affection for Lyla which adds another interesting layer to character development.

The mystery that keeps Lyla and Nic on their toes is a conspiracy theory that goes back thirty years. Secondary characters are seemingly unconnected until the mystery is solved at the very end. There seemed to be a lot of intrigue leading up to uncovering the mastermind behind illegal weapons sales, and once readers are introduced to the culprit, the story wraps up really quickly.

I liked the random connections, but there’s a family secret that comes out of nowhere. It didn’t quite feel organic to the story, but then perhaps with all the randomness it works.

This isn’t one of those stories that will keep you awake at night, so it’s a nice change for the romantic suspense genre.

I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.
