BOOK BY: Kimberley Woodhouse
This is a story about a blind concert pianist leading up to WW2 and Hitler’s targeting of disabled people.
The premise of the story is fascinating and Kimberley Woodhouse’s descriptions of the music that Chaisley plays are spot on. A reader is easily immersed into the concert hall or practice room while Chaisley works on her craft. The author does a fantastic job of creating pre-WW2 Europe through the narrative.
However, I had difficulty connecting with any of the main characters. Chaisley – the blind concert pianist, Rick – her driver/British spy, and Melanie – Chaisley’s friend/tour manager. However, the secondary characters added some interest that moved the story along. There is some danger and intrigue that adds another layer to the story.
I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.
